Cooperstown - A Real “Hall Of Fame” New York Attraction

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Nestled in the rolling hills of upstate New York is Cooperstown, widely known for being the home of the world famous baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Not so widely known is why the Hall of Fame is located there. In 1905, a committee (The Mills Commission) was appointed to determine the origin of baseball. They finally determined in 1907 that “the first scheme for playing baseball, according to the best evidence obtainable to date, was devised by Abner Doubleday at Cooperstown, N.Y. in 1839." This made Cooperstown the perfect location for the shrine. The Hall of Fame opened in 1939 and is visited by 350,000 guests a year.

In addition to the Hall of Fame there are many other attractions in Cooperstown, also known as the Village of Museums. Here you will find the Farmers’ Museum, the Fenimore Art Museum and Eugene Thaw Indian Collection. Not far away, car buffs can see the largest collection of Franklin luxury cars in the world at the Northeast Classic Car Museum.

Catch a ride on the Leatherstocking Railway, take in an opera, and visit the unique shops or the Wax Museum on Main Street. There are guided tours and even a candlelight ghost tour.

Loads of fun in the winter with tubing, cross country skiing and ice skating. In the warmer months enjoy the water activities at Lake Otsego or take a cruise on the Erie Canal. Watch a new brew being created and taste test it at the Cooperstown Brewing Company. Golfers have a choice of three beautiful golf courses to putt around on.

There is plenty to see and do but if you still need some more baseball, there are games scheduled all day long at Doubleday field and Cooperstown Dreams Park is where you can catch some of the best youth baseball tournaments in the world.

Have a “Hall of Fame” time in Cooperstown while enjoying New York

Invest in Albuquerque Houses for Sale

Friday, November 16th, 2007

If you are thinking of making a real estate investment, Albuquerque NM should be one of your primary choices. This city is a seller’s market right now. While this means that house prices are going up and, thus, you probably have to invest more than if you are going to buy in a buyers’ market, this also means that you are more likely to see a return on your real estate investment than anywhere else; that is, real estate appreciation is currently the trend in Albuquerque (in fact, CNNMoney.com has appreciation rates in Albuquerque tagged at around 8.3%) so that you are probably going to be able to sell your property for a profit.

Our fishing trip to Florida

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

One of the best family vacations we’ve taken over the past few years was this summer when we took a family fishing vacation to Florida. My wife and I both grew up in rural America where fishing was a way of life, and we figured this would be time perfect time to introduce our pre school children to our love of fishing. we weren’t sure how the kids would enjoy it but I am happy toreport that they had a great time. Hopefully they will become life long fisherman like their parents.
